Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using our services

Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using the services of Amasezerano Community Banking PLC ("ACB", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using our services.

Banking Services

ACB provides microfinance banking services including but not limited to:

  • Savings accounts and deposit products
  • Personal and business loans
  • Mobile and digital banking services
  • Money transfer and payment services
  • Financial advisory services

All banking services are subject to approval and compliance with our internal policies and regulatory requirements set by the National Bank of Rwanda.

Account Requirements

To open an account with ACB, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Provide valid identification as required by Rwandan law
  • Provide accurate and complete information during the application process
  • Maintain current contact information with us
  • Comply with all Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements

Account Usage

You agree to use your account responsibly and in compliance with all applicable laws. You must not:

  • Use your account for any illegal or fraudulent activities
  • Share your account credentials with unauthorized persons
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Use our services to launder money or finance illegal activities
  • Provide false or misleading information to the bank

Fees and Charges

Banking services are subject to fees and charges as outlined in our current tariff schedule, available on our website and at all branches. We reserve the right to modify fees with reasonable notice to account holders. Fees may include but are not limited to:

  • Account maintenance fees
  • Transaction fees
  • Loan processing and interest charges
  • ATM and card usage fees
  • Penalty fees for insufficient funds or late payments

Interest Rates

Interest rates on savings accounts and loans are determined by ACB and may vary based on market conditions, regulatory requirements, and individual account terms. Current rates are available on our website and at all branch locations. We reserve the right to adjust rates with appropriate notice.

Loan Terms

Loans are subject to the following conditions:

  • Approval is based on creditworthiness assessment
  • Collateral may be required for certain loan products
  • Timely repayment is mandatory as per the loan agreement
  • Late payments may result in penalties and negative credit reporting
  • Early repayment may be subject to prepayment fees as stated in your loan agreement

Security and Confidentiality

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information, including passwords, PINs, and security questions. You must notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized access due to your failure to maintain confidentiality.

Digital Banking Services

Our mobile and online banking services are provided for your convenience. You acknowledge that:

  • Services may be unavailable due to maintenance or technical issues
  • You are responsible for ensuring your device security
  • Internet service provider charges may apply
  • Transaction limits may apply to digital transactions

Dispute Resolution

If you have any complaints or disputes regarding our services, please contact our customer service team. We are committed to resolving issues promptly and fairly. If a dispute cannot be resolved through our internal process, you may refer the matter to the National Bank of Rwanda's dispute resolution mechanism or pursue legal remedies under Rwandan law.

Account Closure

Either party may terminate the banking relationship:

  • By you: Submit a written request to close your account after settling all outstanding obligations
  • By ACB: We may close or suspend your account for violation of these terms, suspicious activity, or as required by law, with reasonable notice when possible

Limitation of Liability

ACB shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use our services, except where prohibited by law. Our liability is limited to the extent permitted by the National Bank of Rwanda regulations and Rwandan law.

Force Majeure

We shall not be held responsible for any failure or delay in performing our obligations due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government actions, strikes, war, pandemics, or technical failures.

Amendments

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on our website and, where appropriate, notified to account holders. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Rwanda. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Rwanda.

Regulatory Compliance

ACB is licensed and regulated by the National Bank of Rwanda. We comply with all applicable banking regulations, anti-money laundering laws, and consumer protection legislation in Rwanda.
